Herbert and Helen Farrell built The Farrell House in 1941, in an architectural style referred to as the American Country Estate Era. Characteristics of these homes during that period featured large homes on vast estates with magnificent views of nature, away from urban areas. The homes were designed in a lavish style to flaunt the wealth of the homeowners. In years that followed, the home changed hands several times. Most notably, J. Preston Levis of Toledo, Ohio purchased The Farrell House property. He was the president of Owens-Illinois Inc and for twenty years the home was used as a company retreat facility. In 1999, Doug and Linda Lamb of Bay Village, Ohio purchased the property and began the task of restoring The Farrell House to its original grandeur. In 2025, the Lambs sold the property to Ron and Eunice Hackenberger, and their daughters are continuing to offer exceptional hospitality to all Sunnybrook members and Farrell House guests.
